Dialogue? Projects:
Dialogue? Projects is a group of individuals brought together by the roads we traveled. We apply our innovative minds to creating stimulating outcomes from the relationship of: our creativity, people we reach, ethical business, and the ins and outs of life.
| Our Squad + People In The Know + Innovation + Everyday Life = Dialogue? Projects |
This equation leads to projects and goods that play a continued and interactive role in people’s lives.
Behind How We Began:
Back in the early 90’s a young kid in downtown NYC would go play basketball at the neighborhood park. The young kid’s neighbor, whose window he could see from his room, also played. On off hours, the downtown kid found he was the only person in the park. He’d practice, but it was better to play with someone else, and sometimes his ball would be flat and the line for air at the gas station up the block would be stacked with taxis. One day the kid decided he would leave a note in his window, large enough for the neighbor to see:

From then on, the young kid and the neighbor communicated through messages in their windows.
Ten years later, an artist, also the young kid’s sister, who lived down the street, started an art project where she placed white boards in her window and wrote phrases on them in black letters. The phrases ranged from questions asking “Anyone reading this? Y/N?” to simple statements such as “Today I ate oatmeal,” and “Chickens.” An art piece in and of itself, and maybe, over time, complete strangers, eating, sleeping, and pissing 100 ft away would start forming an interaction with boards and letters in their windows.
Dialogue? Projects Was Born:
We call the descriptions above, “Window to Window” phenomenon, and inspired by these two “Window to Window” stories, Dialogue? Projects was born. Trying to bring the concept behind the “Window to Window” phenomena down to the street level, Dialogue?’s first project, “Window to Face,” and first related product, clothes, were created. How? The kid and his sister put the word “Dialogue?” in her window. They then got a bunch of $5 t-shirts from Canal Street. With felt letters, they ironed the word “Dialogue?” onto the t-shirts. With each shirt sold, the story behind the project was told, and the buyer, now in the knowhow, was encouraged to continue the concept. People wearing the clothes in public places would be open to interaction with others in the knowhow. So, not only did the item of clothing that we created become a tool to facilitate the project, but it also allowed us to reach more people, build our business, and give means to further projects.
Now, Dialogue? clothing is sweatshop free and made in the U.S.A, using sustainable materials as much as possible. This is a manufacturing level of ethics and responsibility we believe is consistent with us and our concept. We are creating new designs based on relevant concepts and hoping to further the “Window to Face” project, its effects, and people’s interest with each shirt we make and sell. Meanwhile, the “Window to Window” phenomena seems to be spreading.
Future:
Dialogue? Projects is not just a clothing company. The “Window to Window” phenomena, “Window to Face” project, and subsequent clothing, is only the first installment. While this project will continue on, we will work, with your involvement and support, to capture more innovative ideas and concepts, with high quality and directly related art and goods. So this “about” will continue to evolve. Keep checking back.
We hope you enjoy your Dialogue? experience and thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Dialogue? Projects.
